WORKSHOP 1

Session 1
What key functions are needed for driving?

  • Develop a conceptual framework or model that best encompasses the various driving functions.
  • Identify the specific functions and where they fit within the framework or model.

Session 2
For each of the functions identified during Session 1, how strong is the existing scientific evidence regarding the level of functioning needed for the safe operation of a motor vehicle?

WORKSHOP 2

Assessing functional impairment

  • What are the most valid and useful protocols for assessing functional impairment and for which functions – i.e., what do you consider as best practices for this field; should assessment be made on the basis of individual functions or is it more rational and practical to provide a global assessment of functionality that embraces a combination of the skills/capacities in question?
  • What are the limitations of current assessment protocols and what research is needed to overcome them?
